Promoting good health awareness and encouraging participants to assume responsibility for their own health are the goals of the Age Strong, Live Long Healthy Lifestyle Expo. This amazing expo is a free one day event set for Friday, February 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Concord Senior Center, 2727 Parkside Circle in Concord.
The expo will provide information about services, resources and products that benefit older adults, their families and caregivers. A free tote bag will be distributed to the first 500 attendees. Over 40 vendors and service providers will offer valuable information to seniors and family members.
We’ll be offering participants the opportunity to sample juiced fruits and vegetables provided by Gurnick Academy of Medical Art’s Nursing Students. Other information sessions will be available depending on the hour of the day such as an informative presentation by Dr. Leonard Chuck, MD, PhD on healthy aging: “Better, Stronger, Younger: Don’t Get Old”, and “Make Room For Sugar: What is Diabetes” are scheduled at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Various health screenings and services will be provided by Gurnick, Diablo Clinical Research and Senior Helpers, including cholesterol blood pressure, memory, heel scans and massages. For more information about this amazing expo, please visit www.cityofconcord.org/healthfair.

That’s right, Gurnick Academy of Medical Art Student’s gathered together to have a friendly food drive competition. The winners receiving a pizza party for their class. The medical assistant group took the prize by collecting and donating roughly 1,100 items for the Salvation Army.

The Mount Diablo Unified School District ‘s 3rd Annual College Fair was in full force on Monday night October 26, 2015 at Ygnacio Valley High School in Concord California.
The event was geared for all High School students and parents in the Contra Costa County with 106 colleges and institutions present. The college fair had over 800 curious students and parents walking through the maze of booths presented by various colleges and institutions. Parents took the lead, if there student wasn’t able to attend, to gather as much information possible about the schools there child might attend. Such dedication and interest these parents and grandparents displayed!
Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts located in Concord California brought great awareness to many students and parents, that there were alternatives to attending a four year University. A medical vocational school that offers Nursing, Medical Assisting, Radiologic Technology, Psychiatric Technician, Phlebotomy and Registered Nurse to a Bachelor of Science in nursing programs.
With well over 60 interactions with parents and students, Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts brought a lot of interest. Showcasing our Vocational MedicalPrograms of which some could be completed in less than a year. A jump start into their career in the Medical Field with hands on training, preparing each and every student to become as successful as can be.
